Cigar City Brewing announces the ticket sales for Hunahpu’s Day 2019, a premier craft beer festival in the Southeast U.S. and once-yearly release of their Hunahpu’s Imperial Stout. The Tenth Annual Hunahpu’s Day will be on March 9th, 2019, at Raymond James Stadium in Tampa, Florida. Tickets include unlimited beer samples from over 170 sought-after breweries as well as bottles of Hunahpu’s Imperial Stout, monolithic dark beer brewed in cinnamon, vanilla, cacao nibs, and three types of chili peppers. The bottles of Hunahpu’s Imperial Stout will only be available at the event, and not to the public.

The Hunahpu’s Imperial Stout was first released on CCB’s one-year anniversary in 2010 and has become the craft beer’s most coveted brews with thousands of beer devotees traveling to Tampa each year for the one-day release. At a 11.2% ABV, the Imperial Stout has strong notes of espresso and dark chocolate. After fermentation, cacao nibs, vanilla beans, and cinnamon are blended with ancho, pasilla, and guajillo chili peppers. The beer ends with the perfect balance between sweet milk chocolate flavors, spice-derived complexity and a Scoville heat that’s slowing building, but never overwhelming. CCB Brewmaster, Wayne Wambles, named the beer after Hunahpu, one of the Hero Twins in Mayan mythology, as a nod to the beer’s Central American inspiration. Immediately after the beers release, RateBeer, Untappd, and BeerAdvocate added this beer to their all-time highest rated beers in the world.

Wambles and CCB’s Founder and CEO, Joey Redner, were taken back by the Stout’s reception and announced the beer’s release day as “Hunahpu’s Day.”

Wambles stated the original goal was to celebrate their anniversary and draw attention to the release of the incredible beer. Hunahpu is labor intensive and inhibits their ability to only brew it once a year. With the release being only once a year, they felt they might as well throw a party around the release. CCB invited several out-of-state brewery friends to pour their beer at Hunahpu’s Day in 2012, and that lit the spark for a full-scale beer festival and celebration.

In 2018, Hunahpu’s Day was their most successful event ever, with over 5,000 attendees enjoying the rare beers from over 170 breweries from all over the world.

This year, CCB will offer several different ticket levels designed to make Hunahpu’s Imperial Stout and Hunahpu’s Day Festival accessible for all. Bottles of the Imperial Stout, entrance to the 10th Anniversary Hunahpu’s Day Festival, unlimited pours of over 400 different beers, meal tickets for delicious food from local vendors, a souvenir tasting glass and other assets will be included with every ticket level.

For the 10th Anniversary of Hunahpu’s Day, they will introduce two versions of the Hunahpu’s Imperial Stout only available to higher-level ticket holders. Cigar City Brewing will release Hunahpu’s brother and mother to the party with two versions of Hunahpu’s Imperial Stout. Xbalanque is rested on Amburana Wood, lends vanilla and chicory-like woodiness to the beer. Xquic utilizes maple to round out the spicy roastiness.
