On Sunday, as thousands of craft beer professionals descended upon Music City for the Craft Brewers Convention, and the Nashville Predators were preparing to face the Winnepeg Jets in second round of the NHL Stanley Cup playoffs, some of us decided to Embrace the Funk with Yazoo.

Yazoo’s yearly beer festival that features the best and brightest sour beers from around the country couldn’t have been at a better time in its 2018 engagement. With CBC and the World Beer Cup happening just a few miles away, Nashville’s beer community was primed to start the festivities off right.

Funkfest’s beer fest game was strong with dozens of breweries pouring all varieties of sour beers, and as always, the education was top-notch.

Scratch Brewing from Illinois teaches the art of foraged beer.

From Scratch Brewing’s take on foraged beers to Fonta Flora’s homegrown ingredients, every education session was an eye-opener on exactly what goes into the sour and funky.

As always, it was a great day for a little food, some learning and a lot of funk.
