Yazoo will build brewery campus in Madison from scratch, paving the way for future without production limitations and focusing on creating a destination experience for beer fans

Nashville, TENN. (March 21, 2018) – Yazoo Brewing Company, a southern original since 2003 and one of Nashville’s oldest and best-known breweries, today announced the location of its future home at 900 River Bluff Drive in Madison, Tenn. The new location—stretching across six acres that overlook the Cumberland River—puts the brewery on solid footing, making future growth near limitless.

Yazoo closed on the purchase of the site in December after outgrowing its .86 acre-property at 910 Division St. in the Gulch where it has brewed since 2010. Yazoo’s move timeline is dependent on closing on the sale of its current Gulch home. That site is under contract but not finalized.

“We are thrilled to have secured a long-term home for Yazoo that gives us the space to brew without limitations and create a truly special destination for our fans,” said Linus Hall, Yazoo’s founder and brewmaster. “Our new brewery will be custom designed and built from the ground up to meet our brewing needs, with expansion space to support our growth. Our campus will feature a great taproom, as well as dedicated outdoor space for concerts and picnics. It’ll be a destination worth spending time at with friends and family.”

Unlike at the Gulch home where Yazoo had to fit its operations into an existing structure, the Madison site is industrially zoned but remains undeveloped—no demolition is necessary to start site work.

With its Madison location, Yazoo remains in Davidson County and will continue to increase its production throughout the Metro Nashville area. The brewery’s addition will contribute to the recent burst of redevelopment activity taking place in Madison.

“Yazoo’s new location in Madison will be a fantastic addition to this resurgent part of the county,” noted District 9 Metro Councilman Bill Pridemore. “The brewery’s relocation is a natural extension of Nashville’s growth and will help drive economic development out into neighborhoods. It will be something for the people of my district to be proud of, and we’ll be thrilled to host Yazoo fans from all over.”

Yazoo opened its doors in Marathon Village in 2003, selling instant favorites such as Yazoo Pale Ale and Dos Perros to local bars and restaurants and quickly gaining an enthusiastic following. As the brewery began to become synonymous with great local beer in Nashville, it outgrew its Marathon space in 2010 and moved into its well-known and highly visible spot in the Gulch.

“Our staff live all over middle Tennessee and we’ve always seen ourselves as a Nashville beer. We are grateful to have been part of the incredible revitalization of Marathon Village and then the Gulch, and look forward to our new home in Madison,” added Hall.

As the move details are finalized, it will be carefully managed to ensure there is no disruption to Yazoo distribution. Yazoo was represented in the purchase by Nashville commercial real estate broker Chad Grout of Urban Grout.

About Yazoo Brewing Company

In October 2003, Yazoo Brewing opened the doors and began selling kegs of Yazoo Pale Ale, Dos Perros, Spring Wheat, and Onward Stout to local bars and restaurants, quickly gaining an enthusiastic local following. Our Hefeweizen won a Gold Medal for the Hefeweizen at the 2004 Great American Beer Festival and we started bottling our beers in 2005. Other local favorites like our Sly Rye Porter and our Hop Project rounded out our line-up of beers. In 2009, we managed to brew Tennessee’s first ever legal high-gravity ale, Yazoo Sue, after being granted a distillery license. In 2010, we had outgrown our original brewery, and purchased a building for a new brewery in the Gulch, at 910 Division Street. Yazoo beer can now be found throughout Tennessee and Mississippi. We are also the proud brewers of Gerst beer, reviving a brand that was once a Nashville legend before Prohibition, and our Embrace the Funk line of sour and wild ales. We’re excited to be riding the wave of good beer that is sweeping across the Southeast!
